After the Fourth of July Parades were canceled due to the horrific events in Highland Park, the Northfield Township Republicans returned to their headquarters in Glenview (they were lining up to begin the Glenview Parade when organizers called it off). Gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey, who was set to march in the Skokie parade, came to our headquarters to assess the situation in Highland Park in a safe environment as law enforcement advised everyone to stay indoors as the killer was still at large.

"We were honored to host Senator Bailey and his wife on July 4, even under these unspeakable circumstances," Committeeman T.J. Brown said. "Independence Day should be a time of joy and celebration, but instead we were dealt extreme shock and sadness. Senator Bailey needed somewhere to go, and many of our members who were set to participate in the parade grieved and coped with him. We also offered our congratulations to Senator Bailey for earning our party's nomination, and we pledged our complete support to him. We hope to have Senator Bailey and his wife Cindy back in Northfield Township soon."
