Former Chicago Alderman Bob Fioretti is the Republican Candidate for Cook County State's Attorney.
A former assistant State's Attorney, Fioretti knows how poorly the office is underperforming and how it is failing residents across the county. Bob is not merely a "get tough on criminals" politician; he has pushed for sensible criminal justice reform, railed against wrongful convictions, and represented criminal defendants.
Bob is a seasoned litigator and certified mediator with a diverse range of legal experience. Bob has handled complex litigation and governmental law, many of which have been litigated in federal and state court or resolved through arbitration and mediation. As an experienced legal professional, Fioretti has served a wide range of clients including individuals, local governments, and corporations.
Bob Fioretti’s service is not limited to legal clients. Bob has been active in the Chicago and Cook County community for many years, serving two terms on the Chicago City Council as 2nd Ward Alderman. His focus as 2nd Ward Alderman was providing high-quality education throughout the City of Chicago and strengthening communities through economic and community development. Bob’s efforts while serving as Alderman helped create more than 8,000 jobs.
Bob has served on the Character and Fitness Committee of the Illinois Supreme Court and the Judicial Evaluation Committee of the Chicago Bar Association Executive Committee. Fioretti was elected to the Illinois State Bar Association Assembly in 2019 and re-elected in 2022. Bob was also elected to the Chicago Bar Association Board of Managers in 2021 and serves as the Vice Chairman of the Chicago Bar Association Anti-Trafficking Committee.
Additionally, Fioretti has served on the Easterseals Board, and currently serves on the Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center Advisory Board, the Mendel CHS Alumni Board, and also serves as secretary of the George M. Pullman Educational Foundation — which has provided 100 scholarships this year alone.
Bob Fioretti earned his J.D. from Northern Illinois University College of Law and is a member of the adjunct faculty. He worked as the Senior Supervising Attorney of the General Litigation Division for the Corporation Counsel as part of Chicago Mayor Harold Washington’s administration. Fioretti has been involved in more than 500 civil rights cases, and his personal trial experiences have led to more than 100 state and federal verdicts and appellate court decisions. He was also appointed to numerous cases as an Illinois Special Assistant Attorney General and Special Assistant State’s Attorney.
Bob Fioretti remains deeply involved in the Chicago community, serving on various boards, and lecturing extensively on the legal profession, education, civics, and has received numerous awards for his work in public services and the legal profession. Bob continues to provide legal assistance to individuals throughout Cook County with pro bono legal services and has continued serving the public throughout Chicago and Cook County Communities.
