As the host of Black and Right, a Saturday radio show on WIND-AM 560, John Anthony has received acclaim as a voice that "tackles issues from an atypical perspective." A former state representative, John has been active in Illinois Republican circles for years, and continues today inspiring listeners and activists as they work to turn around Illinois and send Donald Trump back to the White House.

In 2005, John's law enforcement career began as a police officer with the Champaign Police Department.  In 2008, he joined the Kendall County Sheriff’s Department where he served as a deputy sheriff.   Anthony was nominated twice for Police Officer of the Year.

Anthony was awarded the Ervin H. Warren “Cop of the Future” award given to police officers who show strong leadership under duress and maintain integrity and character.  In 2014, as a State Representative, he was selected to join the prestigious Edgar Fellows Program, an executive leadership training initiative conducted by the Institute of Government and Public Affairs at the University of Illinois. John was also selected by GOPAC as one of their rising stars in the Illinois Republican Party.

John Anthony served as an Illinois State Representative for the 75th Illinois Legislative District from 2013-2016. As State Representative, Anthony served on the following committees: Agriculture & Conservation; Appropriations-Public Safety; Elementary and Secondary Education: Charter School Policy; Energy; Judiciary - Criminal; Restorative Justice; Special Needs Services; Firearms and Firearm Safety Subcommittee; and the Criminal Justice Reform Subcommittee.

Representative Anthony also served as a member of the Police Professionalism Commission, Illinois Sentencing Policy Advisory Council, the House Task Force on Heroin Crisis, Illegal Gun Trafficking Task Force, Illinois Task Force on Gang Violence, Englewood Violent Crime Task Force, Joint Criminal Justice Reform Committee, Teacher Recruiting and Retention Task Force, Fair Practices in Contracting Task Force, and the Commission to End the Disparities Facing the African-American Community.

Continuing his desire to serve the local community, John and his wife, Deborah, began a non-for-profit charity organization called YARN.  The YARN Foundation seeks to strengthen families by providing educational programs and scholarships.

A native of Chicago, Anthony now resides in Joliet with his wife, Deborah, and their six young children. Anthony oversees his two consulting companies, Anthony Strategies Group and Political Media Now. Anthony has a BA in Criminal Justice from Benedictine University.
